About

IMGP0795The Reform Immigration for Texas Alliance (RITA) is a multi-sector statewide network dedicated to building support for comprehensive immigration reform. RITA’s goal is to present a common, pro-reform Texas voice and educate Texas elected officials about the need to fix America’s broken immigration system with fair, humane and sensible policies that foster America’s strength, security and prosperity.

RITA members are proud Texans from Austin, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Brownsville, El Paso, San Juan and Harlingen. They believe that Texas should be front and center in the debate over immigration reform.

RITA members are asking for immigration legislation that would: Provide a pathway to citizenship; keep families together; respect human and civil rights; foster community security; establish a responsible and accountable border policy; support immigrants’ integration; develop a practical system for future workers; and address the root causes of migration.

I agree, we need to educate policy makers and the public in general about these issues. By the arguments they use to attack immigrants it is evident they don’t understand the roots of global migration and/or don’t even know the current immigration laws.

We need allies, we need to win people over, we need to appeal to the goodwill of people by asking to give immigrants a chance that immigrants share their own values and their love for this blessed country. Confrontation has proven to amount to nothing. We need to present immigrants as allies in the recovery of America not as aliens threatening the American way of life.
